As you put your paddleboard into the water, the world around you recedes. Great Blue Herons, map turtles, and largemouth bass become your traveling companions. Off to your left you see a tree house being used for a company’s team meeting as they sit under big fans finding themselves inspired by the lush wetlands around them.
Down the path a school group is in the Boathouse Pavilion learning how flood bottom land is vital to the health of our region. Work is in your rearview. Breathe.
A nine acre lawn surrounded by a ranger contact station, what we call the boathouse, which is one of our lodges, and then two treehouses - directly accessible to water that will be opened up. So you can imagine paddling it on your paddle board, coming up and taking a break at a boathouse, having a family picnic, having a gathering at the boathouse, watching the sunset from this location and then with thoughtful planting around it, allowing you to have wildlife experiences, all within a 30-40 foot walk from a parking lot.
